Inward trade brings more than investment to Jersey

Date
30 April 2011

More than 450 new job opportunities have been created in the last 12 months by businesses relocating or setting up in the Island.  Thirty six companies were granted licences to operate in the island in 2010 with many more asking for information about setting up business in Jersey.

A number of the jobs created have offered opportunities for local graduates in sectors such as mineral exploration and scientific research.

The Inward Investment and International Trade Development team at Jersey Enterprise are responsible for attracting new businesses to the island and offer full support to those that decide to make the move.  Working with Skills Jersey they have identified opportunities for Jersey graduates to secure employment with the new breed of businesses that have chosen the island as their base.

The success of the Inward Investment proposition proves that Jersey has much to offer specialised international companies looking for a low cost, well regulated and structurally sophisticated location.

As well as offering career opportunities in new sectors for local graduates, the majority of those companies relocating to Jersey have become involved in community life, supporting teams and events as part of their ongoing commitment to the Island.
