Whether your investors are west, and your operations are east, Jersey’s strategic location will position your business at the centre of your global operation.

14 miles (20 km) from France and just a 40-minute flight to London, Jersey’s location makes travel easy and enjoyable whether you’re taking a business trip, going skiing with your family, spending the weekend in the city, or visiting business contacts.

The Island is independent but offers the security of swift communications and secure connections with the rest of the world, including the fastest broadband in Europe.

Whether you prefer the coast or countryside Jersey offers the best of both, from white sandy beaches to dramatic cliff-top views, from woodland to rolling farmland, and from modern marinas to historic fishing harbours, there is a piece of paradise for everyone. With 48-miles of coastline and unspoilt countryside never more than minutes from your door, Jersey offers a unique quality of life where you can live the city life…just not in the city.

Climate

<?= <?=

Jersey’s southerly location and position within the Bay of St Malo means the Island is more sheltered than other Channel Islands. As a result, the Island enjoys a temperate or oceanic climate and often has more sunshine hours than other areas in the British Isles. The summer months are generally warm, with high UV and average daily temperatures reaching 20 to 22°C.  During settled spells temperatures may reach 30°C, with mild sea temperatures from July to October.

Winters bring generally mild temperatures with daily averages of around 9°C. Although the sea temperature can be as low as 8°C this does not stop the local population enjoying swimming all year round!

Where Are We?

The Bailiwick of Jersey sits just 14 miles (20 km) from the French coast and 85 miles (137 km) from the English coast. The Island is the largest of the Channel Islands and is 45 square miles, divided into 12 parishes. The Bailiwick also includes the surrounding islands, reefs and rocks of Les Dirouilles, Les Écréhous, Les Minquiers, Les Pierres de Lecq and other reefs.

Whilst Jersey is proudly a British Crown Dependency, the Island’s proximity to mainland France and the shared history and heritage, has influenced life on Jersey for generations, from French family names and road names, to the native Jèrriais language and the Norman law-influenced legal system.

The Island’s main power source even comes from undersea cables to France!

Islanders are equally proud to hold British passports as they are of the strong connection with France, and whilst Jersey is not part of the EU, the Island is part of the Common Travel Area (CTA) along with the other Channel Islands and Ireland.

Jersey has its own, independent government, legal and tax system, so the Island sits close to Europe, but is not ruled by it.

An Island Shaped by its Heritage

<?= <?=

Jersey, we’re an Island of cavemen and Vikings, of pirates and of Kings, an Island which wears its vibrant history with pride. We’re a population that’s connected to the sea, and by the sea, the force that shaped our beautiful landscape.

Our history is influenced by our very location. Jersey has been invaded and fought over many times through history by those wishing to claim our beautiful shores as their own. Our past is woven into the fabric of time and folklore, the legacy of our ancestors puts Jersey on the pages of history books, their stories echoing through the ages, and into the very customs and traditions of Islanders today.

Safety and Security

Finding a jurisdiction that can offer you the very best tax advantages might be one of your reasons for moving, but choosing a location to become your new home is about much more. Roadside honesty boxes brimming full of delicious, locally produced fruit, vegetables, eggs and flowers are the clearest indication that the way of life is quite different here in Jersey!

Jersey proudly boasts one of the lowest crime rates in the British Isles making it a safe haven in which your family can grow and thrive. The 12 parishes, with their own distinct regional character and friendly local communities, including a parish Honorary Police force, certainly contribute to this, providing every opportunity for people to become part of their local community and to enjoy the security and friendships this can bring.

With its culture of safety and privacy, Jersey can offer you peace of mind and offers the ideal location for you and your family to prosper in a beautiful, friendly and very safe location.

Food Lovers Paradise

Islanders love to eat, and with amazing local produce on the doorstep you will understand why!! A move to Jersey means the freshest produce from land and sea on your plate within minutes.

Known internationally for the very beautiful dairy cows adorning the fields, Jersey Royal new potatoes planted on incredibly steep cotils (a steeply sloping field) and varied seafood, the Island is abundant with the highest quality produce. With 52% of the land used for agriculture and with a 12m tidal range, the landscape and seascapes are second to none and give more than a hint that Jersey is a paradise for lovers of food!

Whether you’re hosting a dinner party, BBQ or picnic, you can find all the fresh local produce you will need for sale from roadside veg stalls with traditional honesty boxes for payment, the central market and fish market, or in any of the well-known supermarkets we have here.

But it’s not all about the food as the Island also boasts its own vineyards, breweries, distilleries and even tea farms, all putting a unique Jersey touch on their products, including amongst many local wonders, rum infused with seaweed!

Thanks to the abundance of produce and our love for great food, it is no surprise therefore that the Island has over 400 cafes, bars and restaurants making the most of what the Island has to offer, from fine dining restaurants to rustic beach cafes. Your biggest decision will be deciding which to try next!
