“From the outset the Locate Jersey team have understood my business objectives and model and I am incredibly grateful to them for their assistance, introducing me to people in the wider business community and helping us to really get going.”

Maven Partners is a leading independent recruitment firm, working in the tax, finance and financial advisory sectors. Operating for clients and candidates globally, Maven has headquarters in the UK and Australia, but was keen to establish an office from which to base its offshore recruitment expertise. Maven partner Sarah Garrood explains:
“We had dealings with clients and candidates in various offshore locations, including Jersey, Guernsey, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands. However, in terms of establishing an offshore base, Jersey seemed to make the most sense, as it is so well regulated and respected and sits at the centre of Maven Partners’ global operations – both geographically and in terms of time zones.”
“Prior to being in Jersey, and after many years of working in London, I was living in Bermuda where, among other things, I worked with Bermuda’s financial regulator on a very high profile international recruitment campaign. Whilst I may have some unique expertise in the executive recruitment sector, I had no experience of establishing a business in Jersey and I was therefore extremely grateful to Locate Jersey for the guidance and assistance the team was able to give me. The team was incredibly supportive and advised me on the structure of my business plan so that, within only a matter of days of submitting it to the authorities, I was granted my business licence.”
“The other main reason that we chose Jersey as a set-up location was because of its schooling opportunities. We looked at other jurisdictions and whilst many offer a lovely lifestyle, Jersey was the only place that could offer us the lifestyle as well as excellent schools. In other offshore locations we are familiar with, the only real source of good schooling is to send your children overseas to boarding school. This wasn’t a situation that would suit our family and, I have to say that we certainly haven’t been disappointed by the excellent on-island education our children are now enjoying. The schools really are as good as we’d hoped they would be and more.”
“For me, one of the best parts of living in Jersey (apart from all the wonderful restaurants!) is the peaceful, spacious, safe and secure lifestyle that you can lead.
One of my favourite things is to walk our dog through the beautiful ‘Green Lanes’ that criss-cross the Island, call into the fishery nearby to collect some delicious local sea fare and then pick up some freshly dug Jersey Royal potatoes from one of many ‘honesty’ farm stalls at the roadside on my way home. There aren’t many places in the world where you can do that anymore.”
Strategically positioned between the UK and Europe, Jersey opens up a world of connections.
